    Toddler Life Update

It has been far too long since I have given an update on or dedicated a post to where Asher is these days so I thought it was time to share some info on Asher’s newfound toddler life. Asher is coming up on 2 1/2 this October. He is just over 30 pounds and who knows how long but it is certainly long. His feet are now hitting my knees when I hold him. Toddler Life Means Growing Bigger Though he is 2 1/2 he is still long and lean and could still fit into his 18-month clothes if it wasn’t for his length. He is mostly wearing 2T and…

    The Emotional Side Of Motherhood

It’s nearing midnight and I am lying awake in bed while little E sleeps soundly next to me, her tiny rapid breaths reminding me I should be sleeping because she will be awake soon to eat. The Emotions of Children Growing She had her 4-month check-up today and it is still so crazy to me that she is 4 months old!? Heck, it’s even crazier that Asher is almost 2 1/2! Between buying a house, selling a house, and managing the existence of our little family so much time seems to have passed without me really noticing. We closed on our new house this afternoon and we will close on…

  • 10 Months

Age: 10 Months Weight: 2lbs Length: 31 inches Head:? Sleeping: This last month has been a bit difficult. Asher has taken to waking multiple times a night. Sometimes to nurse, other times just wanting to be rocked back to sleep. He is still sleeping in our room so it makes it easy to get to him. Over the last month he has been working on getting his top two teeth in (he has one through!) and also is getting closer and closer to walking each day so I think these big events are keeping his little brain busy at night. I keep trying to remind myself that these days will be over before I…

  • 9 months

Age: 9 months Weight: 20 lbs  Length: 29 1/2 inches Sleeping: Sleeping is pretty much the same. He heads to bed between 9 and 10 and tends to wake anywhere from 2-5 times each night. At least once a night he is up to nurse but most of the time he is just waking between sleep cycles and needs some help to get back to sleep.  Milestones: This last month was a huge one for our little guy. He is now pulling himself up onto everything and cruising all around the house. He doesn’t quite know how to get down from standing so he will fuss when he wants to sit. He will also walk…

  • 6 months

Age: 6 months Weight: Roughly 18 pounds Length: 27-28 inches Head: ? Sleeping: Little man has been getting back to a decent sleeping schedule. Longest bouts of sleep are back to 4-5 hours, which is a great improvement after a few nights of getting up every 2 hours.  Milestones: Log rolling all over the place. Starting the beginnings of crawling by scooting all over the place. He likes to push his head down into the floor and propel himself forward on his toes. Started saying “Dada”. Trying solid foods. Sitting up unassisted.  Best Moments: Trying solids for the first time today. We started with avacado and he took it like a pro. Going to the…

  • 7 months

Age: 7 months Weight: Around 19 pounds according to our home scale. Length: unknown Head: unknown Sleeping: This varies day to day. Sometimes he will sleep a few 3-4 hour stretches without waking, other times it seems like he is up every hour. Daylight savings killed us this week and he was getting up, ready to take on the day at 6 am.  Milestones: Sitting up with no issue. He has mastered the spin-on-belly-then-log-roll-to-my-destination mode of transportation. I swear he will never crawl because he has perfected this method.  Best Moments: Coming home from work each day and having him squeal with delight when he sees me. Also having him reach for me (my heart melts!). …

  • 3 and 4 months

It is so hard to believe that our little man is FOUR months old!? Are you serious? Where has time gone. I wasn’t on the game with the three month post so I am playing catch up here. Age: 4 monthsWeight: 14lbs 13 oz as of 4 month check upLength: 26.25 inchesHead: 17 inches Sleeping: We have gone through a few days of getting more than usual sleep, but overall he is still sticking to going to bed between 8:30 and 9. He sleeps until about 2:30 or 3 and then is up to eat. Then it’s back down until 7:30 or 8. Milestones/New Tricks:3 months: Holding head up without…

  • 2 months

Age: 2 months Weight: 11 1/2 lbs   Sleeping: Still going to sleep between 8:30 and 9 every night. He continues to get up after about 5 hours to eat and then goes back to sleep for another 3-4 hours. Halfway through the month Asher decided sleeping in his rock and play wasn’t so bad. Until about 6 weeks old he wouldn’t sleep unless he was with the hubs or me.  Milestones: He can hold his head up. Smiling and cooing. Bearing weight on his legs when held. Lifting head in tummy time.  Best Moments: Enjoying my days at home with our squish while on maternity leave. Celebrating my first Mother’s Day with the hubs and my…

  • Month One

Age: 1 month Weight: 9lbs 2oz Length: 21.5 inches Head: 15 inches  Sleeping: We decided to let Asher to his thing and sleep whenever he would like. In the week or so our little man was a typical newborn and he was waking every 2 hours to eat but sometime around 3 1/2 weeks he just started falling asleep around 9pm and staying asleep for 3-4 hours. He wakes to feed and then is back to sleep for 2-3 hours. It has been a welcomed change and the rest is nice. It is amazing how great you can feel after the addition of just a few more hours of sleep. He doesn’t really like his…

    Asher’s Birth Story Part Two

If you haven’t read part one you can do so here. We arrived at the hospital and were quickly admitted and settled into our room. [p.s: laboring in a car, even for the short distance I had to, has to be one of the most awful and hilarious things I have ever experienced.] The start was a little rocky when I had to have my hep-lock placed. We arrived right at shift change and we were settled into our room by one nurse who started everything but a different nurse arrived twenty minutes later to actually place the line. She apparently wasn’t keen on the site the first nurse chose…
