Asher Toddler Update

It has been far too long since I have given an update on or dedicated a post to where Asher is these days so I thought it was time to share some info on toddler Asher.

Asher is coming up on 2 1/2 this October. He is just over 30 pounds and who knows how long but it is certainly long. His feet are now hitting my knees when I hold him. He is still long and lean and could still fit into his 18 month clothes if it wasn’t for his length. He is mostly wearing 2T and some 3T clothes (thank God for the whomever invented the toddler pants that cinch on the inside). He isn’t yet potty trained but is getting more and more interested every day and has even used the potty a few times these last few days. Since we are moving we decided not to try anything new with him until we’ve settled into a decent routine.

His mind is growing and expanding each day and it is amazing to see how quickly he is learning things. His vocabulary is incredible and some days he says things in such dynamic sentences that the hubs and I are left looking at each other wondering when we got a teenager. He loves to tell vivid stories of how construction equipment works, where the garbage man takes the trash, and what sort of fun his animals are having. He also loves to “shake his groob (groove) thing” to our Pandora nursery rhythm station.

These days he is loving to play with dinosaurs, construction equipment: especially concrete mixers and garbage trucks. He loves to dig in his rice and sand bins. He loves to play outside and drive his bubble car around. One of his favorite things to do is hop in his car and say “see you later!” and then he will scoot away and then come back and say “hello mama! I am back from my trip!” He has also developed a love for Legos and will sit for so long building little vehicles and little trinkets. He LOVES to read and loves our weekly trips to the library. Each night he wants to spend near to an hour reading books before bed. He has even started “reading” books to us.

He has the kindest soul and is always looking out for others. He is always making sure Ellery is happy and will let us know if she gets fussy. He brings her toys to play with and loves to sit and make her  laugh. He loves to give her kisses and hugs and say “hi babee sisser!” Anytime he gets himself a snack he always grabs one for me too. He loves to share his food and treats with Mama and Daddy. He loves to cuddle and snuggle and always asks to go “up up” to be held and will put his little head on your shoulder. He is always bringing little gifts to me and saying “I got this for yoooou mama!”.

He has transformed into quite a picky eater these days. As a baby he would eat practically anything but now a days getting this boy to eat a vegetable is harder than establishing world peace. His favorite foods these days include any and all types of fruit, any form of mac and cheese, the jelly side of a pb&j. raisins and peanuts.

His imagination has grown recently and it has been so much fun watching him set up little scenarios for his toys. His favorite include his Hotwheel cars racing, his trash truck collecting “trash”, and his animals going on various adventures. I love to watch him lay on the floor and build a world around him.

I have probably said this with every age, but this age has so many fun parts and we are really enjoying watching him blossom into a little boy. Now it isn’t always fun as he is a toddler and all. We have dealt with our fair share of tantrums, fits, and indecisiveness but overall he is keeping us on our toes and laughing.
